Youth in Kayak

A project to bring young people closer to the sea and sustainability

It was born with the aim of raising awareness among as many young people as possible about the world of SEA KAYAK, a sport discipline and lifestyle for many enthusiasts. Thanks to this wonderful sport we can admire the coastal beauty that surrounds us, appreciate the sounds and colors that nature offers us and contribute to the cleaning of our beloved sea.

Theoretical and practical training courses will give us the right means to practice Sea Kayaking, offering all young people a valid sporting alternative to practice all year round. Sea Kayaking is a sport of sharing, of the group and above all of application: the repetition of movements and techniques will help the learning and reactivity of the young participants.

Over the years the PROJECT has undergone changes, adding year after year theoretical topics and practical notions to make the training path ever more fascinating.

  • WHAT IS THE PADDLE AND WHAT IS IT FOR
  • KAYAK EQUIPMENT
  • NAUTICAL ECO SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT

Practical phases

Afterwards, the young participants will begin their approach to the sea with PRACTICAL phases:

  • HOW TO TRANSPORT THE KAYAK FROM THE STORAGE AREA TO THE BEACH
  • ENTERING AND EXITING THE KAYAK FROM THE SHORE
  • CORRECT PADDLING TECHNIQUE
  • PROPULSIVE PHASES AND KAYAK CONTROL

During the first phase of practical learning, exercises take place a few metres from the shore, in a safe and controlled area. Each kayak is attached with safety lines to ensure constant control by the staff. The instructor is always present in the water, supporting the young participants one by one, monitoring every movement and providing immediate feedback to correct posture and technique.

Once the participants have gained mastery and confidence in the basic maneuvers, they are taken on short outings in open water, always under the supervision of one or more qualified instructors. The goal is to put into practice what has been learned in a real context, learning to manage small currents, maintain course and coordinate with the group.

Final race and closing day

At the end of the training course, the young participants take part in a fun final race, conceived not as a pure competition but as a moment of play and a way to test the skills acquired. Through small challenges in pairs or teams, the young kayakers put their technique, speed and ability to work together to the test, all in a cheerful and sporty atmosphere. At the end of the day, an awards ceremony is held at the host facility, where each participant receives a certificate of attendance and a commemorative medal. This is a very heartfelt moment that celebrates everyone’s commitment and seals the experience, giving the youngsters a beautiful memory to take home and the awareness that they have learned something new and important.

Maurizio Sollo

Maurizio Sollo

I have been practicing Sea Kayaking for over 10 years and I am lucky enough to live by the sea 365 days a year.

My TRAINING path began with obtaining the BASIC TECHNICAL COURSE from the ITALIAN CANOE AND KAYAK FEDERATION, then I obtained the NATIONAL INSTRUCTOR COURSE ENDAS CAMPANIA OCEAN RECIN for sea kayak activities and finally I became a TRAINER for the same body.

I am a 1st LEVEL EXCURSION OPERATOR and SPORTS EXPERT in OUTDOOR practices.

Among the many certificates and medals received over the years, the recognition that the 2-PANZINI COMPREHENSIVE INSTITUTE of Castellammare di Stabia (NA) gave me for having successfully carried out the YOUTH IN KAYAK 6.0 PROJECT stands out.
